Floatsnip
Capture any area of your screen and use the captured image as a window.
Features
- Keep a captured image on screen as a "Float window". It can stay on top of other windows.
- Zoom a Float window with the mouse wheel, change its opacity with Ctrl + wheel, and rotate or flip it with Shift + arrow keys.
- Capture a selected area, a selected window, a saved area, a saved window, or the active window.
- Assign a hotkey to each type of capture.
- Save as JPG or PNG, copy to the clipboard, or open the image in another application.
- Works with multiple monitors and high-DPI displays.
- The interface is available in Japanese and English.
Requirements
- Windows 10 / 11
- .NET 8 Desktop Runtime (required for the regular edition)
If you cannot install the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime, use the Standalone edition, which includes the runtime. It is larger and may start more slowly.

Downloads are in 7z format. Use an archive tool such as 7-Zip to extract them (Windows 11 may also be able to extract them with its built-in features).
How to check the downloaded file
Run the following command in PowerShell and make sure the value shown matches the SHA-256 above (upper and lower case do not matter). If it does not match, do not use the file.

Installing and removing
- Install: extract the 7z file anywhere you like and run
Floatsnip.exein theMainfolder. There is no installer. - Update: extract the new 7z file and replace your existing
Floatsnip.exewith the new one. Your settings are kept. - Remove: delete the extracted folder. Check the
Imagesfolder first for any images you want to keep.
Open the "VersionInfo" window in the app to check whether a newer version is available.
